This is a list of unusual injuries that footballers have suffered over the years, on and off the pitch. Some injuries are bad while some are minor.

Flag of Argentina svg Ever Banega In February 2012, Valencia midfielder Banega was run over by his own car at a petrol station, causing a fracture to his ankle. Things got worse for Banega in July when his new Ferrari burst into flames.
Flag of Wales.svg Darren Barnard The Barnsley player slipped in a puddle of his dog's urine on the kitchen floor. The resulting knee ligament damage kept him on the sidelines for five months.
Flag of England svg David Batty The Leeds and Blackburn midfielder managed to re-injure his Achilles tendon after his toddler ran him over on his tricycle.
Flag of England svg Dave Beasant The veteran goalkeeper managed to put himself on the disabled list for eight weeks in 1993 after a bottle of salad cream landed on his foot, severing the tendon in his big toe.
Flag of England svg Chic Brodie The Brentford goalkeeper was forced to retire in 1970 after colliding with a dog that had run onto the pitch.
Flag of Spain svg Santiago Canizares The Spanish goalie missed the 2002 World Cup after accidentally smashing a bottle of aftershave, causing one of the shards of glass to sever a tendon in his foot. Iker Casillas was called in to replace him.
Flag of Switzerland svg Paulo Diogo In December 2004, the Servette midfielder was playing in an away game against FC Schaffhausen when he set up a goal for Jean Beausejour in the 87th minute. In celebration he jumped onto the fence, where his wedding ring got caught. When he jumped off the fence, his finger was torn off. The referee booked him for wasting time as his team won 4-1.
Flag of England svg John Durnin In 1999 the Portsmouth striker was playing a round of golf with fellow player Alan McLoughlin when he crashed his buggy into a fairway hollow, dislocating his elbow and ruling him out for the entire summer holidays.
22px-Flag of Bermuda.svg Shaun Goater During a match in 2003, Man City striker Goater kicked an advertising billboard while celebrating a goal by Nicolas Anelka. The Bermudan was substituted as a result.
Flag of Norway svg Svein Grondalen Norwegian international Grondalen was out jogging in the 1970's when he was the victim of a hit-and-run with a stray moose, resulting in him missing a game for his country.

Flag of Northern Ireland.svg Steve Morrow While Arsenal celebrated winning the 1993 League Cup final, defender Morrow broke his collarbone after falling off Tony Adams.
Flag of Croatia.svg Milan Rapaić The Hajduk Split player missed the start of the season after sticking his boarding pass in his eye at the airport.
Flag of England svg Alex Stepney The Manchester United goalkeeper yelled so loudly at his team-mates during a match in 1975 that he broke his jaw.
Flag of England svg Alan Wright The Villa defender was so small that he couldn't reach the accelerator pedal in his new Ferrari and ended up straining his knee. He swapped the Ferrari for a Rover 416.
