Hamilton made his F1 debut in 2007 with McLaren, and was unstoppable, scoring twelve podiums, along with four wins. However, Ferrari's flying Finn Kimi Räikkönen beat him to the title by a single point. Hamilton redeemed himself the following year, winning the title by the same margin from Felipe Massa. He scored more wins than he did in his rookie season, winning 5 races. However, after losing his Spa victory, which was awarded to Massa, he had one win less than the Brazilian.
In 2009, Hamilton had a horrible start to his title-defending year, being disqualified from the season opener in Australia, and failing to score for five races in a row, including his home race at Silverstone. He did however score two wins, in Hungary and Singapore. His fellow Briton and McLaren team-mate for 2010, Jenson Button, won the title after scoring six wins in the first seven races, and finishing in the points in every race bar one.
In 2010, Hamilton had a better start to the season, finishing third in the season opener in Bahrain, and scoring three victories. However, he suffered three non-finishes, two consecutively.
In 2011, Hamilton scored three wins (China, Germany and Abu Dhabi) but, for the first time in his career, he was beaten by a team-mate in the title standings - Jenson Button was second, behind Sebastian Vettel.
